Kate Philp

Environmental Engineer, World Bank

Kate Philp is an Environmental Engineer at the World Bank, based in Singapore, with 15 years of experience in Southeast Asia and Australia. Her expertise lies in waste management, plastics analytics and policy, and environmental risk management. Since joining the World Bank in 2019, Kate has played a key role in advancing the regional marine plastics strategy for East Asia and the Pacific.

As the Task Team Leader of the Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP), implemented by ASEAN, Kate is responsible for driving efforts to reduce marine plastic pollution in the region. She has also led plastics-related analytical studies in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, contributing to the development of evidence-based policies and solutions.

Her work is instrumental in addressing the growing challenges of plastic pollution and fostering regional cooperation to protect the environment.
